The Computer Tutor: Who the heck do they think they are anyway?
Angie started off her college career thinking she was going to be a high school algebra teacher. Who really becomes the thing they first planned to anyway? If that were the case, we would have a lot more firefighters and astronauts, wouldn’t we? In any event, Angie desired to be a teacher which ended up taking a slightly different form. More on this later. She took a few years off, had a daughter, and when she came back she ended up in a class called Progress! at Pima Community College. During the course of this one-semester class, everyone took personality assessments to determine the top three jobs that might be a good fit and then to do extensive research on these three jobs. This test produced some pretty interesting results: computer programming, radiology tech, and paralegal. The outcome was her start down the career path in computer engineering. The other two options. while good career choices, they don’t exactly help with the services The Computer Tutor ended up providing.
As a single mom working full-time, it took 4 years to get her associate’s degree, and then transfer to the U of A where she went to school full-time for another 3 years to get her bachelor’s degree. A mom’s work is never truly done, is it? Unfortunately, she graduated at the time of the housing crash (ruh roh) and there were not many jobs to be had for a new graduate. So, she ended up working as a part-time office secretary for a friend who just bought an air conditioning company. So cool right? No time for punny jokes, back to the article! In a very short period of time, she went from a part-time secretary to a full-time office manager. Angie was moving up in the world. During this time, she helped set up and organize their network and remote dispatching software, amongst many other things. When the owner decided to sell the company to one of the technicians she decided the time had come to start her own business which she had thought quite a bit about. Don’t let your dreams become dreams, just do it, right folks?
Anyway, she saw a need an older ones to be trained on how to use their electronic devices and determined that she would set up a one-on-one in-home tutoring business to train them to use their phones, tablets, and computers. After doing this for a while, she ended up also subcontracting for CS Design Studios as their social media poster (#angiesAwesomeAtSocialMedia). She started doing this part-time, and then worked up to client reporting and eventually Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for CS Design Studios’ many clients. When the company went through a restructuring process, she ended up as the Online Marketing Director where she had a few minions, errr employees, yeah that’s it, employees, reporting to her. After a couple of years in this position, she determined she needed to cut back a bit, work-wise (who needs to work 40+ hours a week anyway, right?), and used her knowledge in the digital marketing and SEO market to expand The Computer Tutor’s services.
In 2021, Angie fell in love and married Jason. Love is in the air…everywhere I look around … RECORD SCRATCH, okay okay fine we will get back to the article now. At that point, the two of them decided to make a go of it together both in life and in business. Who is Jason you might ask? Jason worked for CS Design Studios too, surprise! Didn’t see that one coming, did you? This is where Angie and Jason met and where he later proposed to her. He worked there for 8 and a half years (one year longer than Angie, so Jason wins), but what exactly did he do there, besides proposing to Angie that is? Excellent question!
In high school, Jason thought he wanted to be an actor and … wait for it … wait for it … he had no plan. Seriously though an actor, who writes this stuff? Jason’s professional story begins in the early 2000’s when right out of high school he took what seemed like every computer course he could that was available at Pima Community College East Campus. Jason ended up with a Programming Certificate in C. However, he didn’t stop there. In 2009 he decided to go back to college and he ended up obtaining an Associates Degree in Web Design. Have you figured out what Jason did at CS Design Studios for all those years yet? He was their senior developer handling Joomla, WordPress, small programming projects, and e-commerce website administration. Oh, we almost forgot. he was also a Director alongside Angie for the last couple of years she was there. We are full of surprises, aren’t they? Jason and Angie were directors alongside another couple of guys, whom we won’t talk about right now because this article is about Angie and Jason, not their great coworkers and friends. Yeah, you know who you are. You might be asking yourself right about now, besides what in the world am I reading, does this mean Jason brings these skills to The Computer Tutor, you bet he does!
Jason and Angie took their assembled skills, (sorta like the Avengers but not nearly as powerful) and combined forces. Jason left CS Design Studios in July of 2022 and became a sub-contractor. Which means we have a great relationship with them and still do work with them. We love all our peeps over at CS Design Studios, but now Jason and Angie both work together and are quite inseparable. Awww isn’t that sweet! Warning, this article does not come with a barf bag. Repeat, this article does not come with a barf bag, apologies.
